Period Makeup

Makeup artists should be capable of creating period makeup looks that are requested by a client, model, photographer or looks that are necessary for a television or film character. Without a doubt, in your makeup artistry career you will be asked to recreate the makeup worn by iconic actresses or the characters they have portrayed. Are you aware of and capable of duplicating the looks of Theda Bara, Mary Pickford, Veronica Lake, Holly Golightly, Lena Horne, or Barbarella if asked? Can you reinterpret Marlene Dietrich’s famous, yet continuously changing eyebrows from any given year?

Learn how to recreate various looks from the 1900’s to the 1980’s. This workshop encompasses interesting lectures on the history of beauty and ethnic makeup. There will be several demonstrations covering application techniques, products and color choices to create looks from these eras for various skin tones and ethnicities.

In addition to makeup looks from these time periods, you will also gain valuable insight as to how to do your own research to create looks for characters that you may have on future television and film jobs. This 3-day class is extremely informative and is a must for anyone who aspires to master beauty makeup. The workshop includes 2 hands-on days, where based on your speed, you will create between three –five period looks on models.

This advanced workshop is essential for any one that wants to transition into work for television, video or film or to improve their beauty makeup skills overall. In the makeup industry, beauty makeup consists of about 85% of all work. Therefore, continuous expansion of your knowledge and capabilities is crucial to be successful and remain competent in your career.
